    4 years today.

robb has work today and i can't decide if it's good he won't be around for my crying all day or if it's bad he's not here to distract me from how awful i feel.

So I've been having a really fun weekend! my mom came to visit me, and she took me shopping for girly stuff and bike paraphinalia. we had some really good talks and a lot of fun. i made her ride her bike around the bay area, and she was such a sport about the hills!

the only problem is i really wish i could tell jasper about all the music stuff i did this weekend. we've agreed to take a break from talking to each other for a while so that we can cool down a bit, but it's hard! i miss sharing music nerd stuff with him. i want to tell him all about deerhoof's amazing set on friday! they were so good! they have two guitar players now, both with the same guitar on the same effects, and they're so coordinated it's like one really crazy guitar. sitomi's bass is just like lillian's, even with flat wound strings! The stuff from the new album seemed really good, but i haven't had a chance to listen to it yet. i bought it at the show, one of the ones with LP and digital download. greg and sitomi were adorable! i love it when greg goes to sitomi's mike to make an announcement and thank the openers. there was an adorable little girl there that barbara and i both saw, and he announced that it was her first concert and she's six ^____^. he just bends over at the waist and lets his arms hang limp when he talks at the mic, it's hilarious. he's so gangly, and his drum set makes him look even bigger, especially when he's really going crazy on it. they did a lot of really cool time signature things and well placed pauses! sitomi played a lot more bass at this show than the last one i was at in LA, which was good, but meant less crazy arm motions. they are one of the best live bands i've ever seen!

Today at the elvis concert he started with a couple of his older non country songs, but then launched into a really great version of "radio sweetheart". i was there with my mom, alix (who is my new house friend crush! she loves elvis even more than me!), and alix's friend matt, who might be my new musical soul mate (he loved bowie and eno and all them too!! he started singing iggy pop on the bart over to SF). we all danced like crazy. then he played wild night by van morrison, which was great! he played a bunch of covers, and did "love hurts" as a duet with emmylou harris, which almost made me cry. the other bit that almost made me cry was that he brought his two baby sons (twins), and it was their first concert! they came out on stage with drum stick and ear muffs and toddled around while he played "my three sons". i didn't really like that song that much until today. it made me all shmoopy. they are so adorable!!! they're twins named frank and dexter, but dexter's middle name is henry so they can be hank and frank if they want to. the last bit elvis brought out a men's choir to sing "scarlet tide" off of delivery man with him. it was pretty cool, but they weren't mic'd/mixed properly. waahh!! it was so cool. i'm really glad my mom was there to share it with me, and i think i bonded with alix a bit! hooorayy!!!

tomorrow i go see david byrne! i'll update after that, too.

Today in my painting class I received a picture post card of a beautiful Chinese flower painting from the TA. On the back my name and the letter "A" are somewhat awkwardly hand printed.

Katherine Sherwood restores my faith in painting professors. She is so wonderful!!!

i'm in love with the plum tree in front of my house. i've been eating fresh, delicious plums every day. and i just discovered that the blackberry bush across the street from me is full of berries! hooray! maybe i'll make a tart soon. for now i think i'll just eat them straight. someone picked all the plums off of the tree in front of cloyne, but hopefully those will grow back soon. the ones in front of my house are burgundy, but the ones in front of cloyne are yellow and pink. i like both kinds a lot. i might go steal some lemons from in front of cloyne soon, too. i wonder if anybody is going to dry their sunflower seeds.....hoorayy for free food!!! ^____^

i sat through 4 hours of the most ridiculous, awful, mind numming performance art ever last night. in a stuffy, stiffling hot gallery. i think i may have lost my mind.

ask me about it and i'll act out the worst pieces. i've been told this is pretty entertaining.

yve's pieces were good, and so was galen and brian's piece. but that was it. and it was FOUR HOURS LONG.

Ugh...i feel like a roy orbison song...
"in dreams i walk with you, in dreams i talk to you, in dreams your mine all of the time, together in dreams"

i didn't know that this kind of thing actually happened, i thought it was just a cliche that made sonwriting easier. all i want to do right now is sleep all the time; i've been having a lot more fun dreaming than being awake.

at least i wrote a song about it. sounds a little too much like "dont' know which part of me," but it's not bad.

    Current Mood: sleepy
Current Music: my new song - "i'm out of benedryl again"
